Abstract
592,543. Articulated pipes. ODDY, C. G. May 11, 1945, No. 11889. [Classes 99 (i) and 99 (ii)] A jointed pipe system, particularly for use with lubricators, Fig. 1, has hardened steel balls h on the ends of its steel pipes g, housed in the adaptors j and spring urged by the springs k, which seat at one end on the adaptors and at the other on brass or like metallic cup washers 1 surrounding approximately half the balls, on to the union nuts i made of softer material than the balls h. In a modification, Fig 2, an adaptor t houses both the balls q and s of which the latter is spring urged against a union nut by a spring w seating on the cup washers u and v. The pipe system may consist entirely of lengths joined according to the above invention, which may also be used in conjunction with a system described in Specification 279,165, [Class 99 (i)], as illustrated by the pipe lengths a, b and c in Fig. 1. The above combinations may also be used with nipple adaptors described in Specification 269,603, [Class 99 (i)], or pumps as described in Specifications 592,539, 592,540 and 592,541.
