B a l l - and - socket joints. - A union for pipes comprises a nut 7 within which is disposed concentrically a pair of other nut-like member 1, 2, into which the pipes are screwed, one of which has an enlarged portion 5 having two convex faces 5<a>, 5b adapted to engage a spherical face 7a on the nut 7 and a spherical seating 4 in a flange 3 on the member 1 respectively. A filling 6 of soft metal &c. may be provided in a recess in one of the two engaging surfaces 4, 5<b>.
