Abstract

592,098. Twisting yarn. BROCKLEHURSTWHISTON AMALGAMATED, Ltd., ASPINWALL, R. H. S., and HARDING, F. April 9, 1945, No. 8755. [Class 120 (ii)] Yarn-twisting apparatus of the double- or multiple-twist type in which a common driving belt drives a number of spindles each of which is held in driving engagement with the belt by a spring-controlled holding rod &c. is characterized in that each spindle is pivoted on a transverse axis and weighted by the unwinding package to swing away from the belt when the holding rod is released. The package 12, supported by a cone 13, is mounted on a holder 161 carried by a plate 16 which closes the end of a casing 14 carried by a cradle 15 and bearings 20. The yarn, after passing through the outlet orifice 18 of the casing, passes through tension rollers (not shown) and thence through the conduit 191 of the spindle 19 which carries a flyer disc 21 and is rotated by the belt 25, the spindle bearing frame being pivoted at 26 so that upon release of the latch 28 by thread breakage or failure, the package 12 swings the spindle away from the belt 25 to stop the drive. The faller 38 through rocking lever 41 automatically releases the latch rod 28 which may also be released at will by a pedal 32. Simultaneously, the winding-on spindle 33 is stopped by a rod 29 :and a vertically-movable front protective wall 42 is lowered. Specification 592,099 is referred to.
