Abstract

989,968. Stop motion: 2 for 1 twisting apparatus. JAMES MACKIE & SONS Ltd. June 27, 1963 [July 3, 1962], No. 25464/62. Heading D1D. In a two-for-one twisting &c machine having a yarn take-up or let-off package carried on a bracket 74 around which the yarn is ballooned by a flyer, and including a stop-motion which when the ballooning yarn is severed is operated to stop the machine or the spindle concerned, the bracket is normally held against rotation with the flyer by a magnet, e.g. 76, on the bracket or the machine frame, co-operating with a member 78 which may be another magnet and is on the frame or the bracket as the case may be, and a movable member 80 is carried by the frame or bracket on the opposite side of the balloon from a magnet and remote from the member 78, so that should the bracket rotate, the member is caused by the magnet to pivot about a horizontal axis and lie across the balloon path to sever the yarn and to engage either the magnet or a part of the brack or frame respectively to stop the bracket rotating in either direction. The apparatus may be an inflow twister of the general type described in Specification 948,845.
