587,661. Frictional igniters. HAWKINS,-F. A. Nov. 29, 1945, No. 32220. [Class 75 (iii)] A lighter simulating a fountain pen has an apertured tubular body a and an apertured flint and wick carrier b, the apertures a<2>, b' providing a hit and miss access for petrol charging purposes. The 'aperture b<4> which may be a slot or a hole may be formed in a lower tubular part b<3> of the member b, which may be of brass, and the wick b<2> may extend through cotton wool d' contained in a copper gauze cylinder d completed by a disc d<2> through which the wick is passed and knotted. An additional seal to the hit and miss apertures is provided by a cap c, which may have the usual clip c<1>, and the whole device may be of semi-transparent material.
