Abstract
575,459. Cigarette lighters. PYLE, C. R. Feb. 29, 1944, No. 3761. [Class 75 (iii)] The solid top of the hollow body a of a cigarette lighter is cut away to form an L-shaped open recess in which are mounted a friction wheel b and a pivoted wick-capping member c, the remairiing portion d of the top being bored to receive a spring-pressed flint engaging the wheel b. The body a may be packed with absorbent material and be provided with a filling cap or lid or may be fitted with a replaceable fuel container provided with a wick projecting through an aperture in the top of the body. A leaf spring may be mounted in a cavity in the top of the body to hold the member c closed. The top of the body may consist of a plate to which a block bored to receive the spring-pressure flint is attached. The cap or lid may have a projection to act as a screwdriver for operating any screws in the lighter.
