Abstract
The chemical resistance and dyeing properties of artificial proteinaceous fibres, produced by coagulating an alkaline soluble acidcoagulable protein into fibre form and treating it with formaldehyde, is improved by treating the fibres in a liquid comprising an inert organic solvent and containing 5 to 15 per cent of acetic anhydride and 5 to 7 per cent of acetic acid. Temperatures of 150 to 225 DEG F. may be used.
