Abstract
578,522. Scaffold clamps. HAWES, A. H. Nov. 2, 1943, No. 18089. [Class 20 (ii)] [Also in Group XIV] A scaffolding or like fitting comprises a channel member 11, a bracket 13 rigidly connected adjacent one end of the channel, and a clamping device, which is disposed at the back of the channel, consisting of hooked portions 17 and a clamping screw 19. The arrangement is such that the channel may be moved along a scaffold pole 12, on adjusting the clamping screw, without relative movement between the clamping device and the channel. The channel has slots 21 in one flange and a horizontal seating member 20 on the web, between the slots. The hooked portions 17 pass through the slots 21 and engage around the scaffold pole 12. A shoulder 18, on the screw 19, engages on the seating member 20. A rectangular frame is built up by adding the members 14, 16; and a working platform 22 is bolted to the bracket 13. A hand rail 23 may be attached to the frame by a clamping device used in conjunction with a cylindrical seating. The frame may support a jenny wheel or shuttering. When used for shuttering a bracket may be pivoted to the channel member. Loops may be welded to the channel members to take bars for supporting additional working platforms. The clamping device forms the subject matter of Specification 569,111.
