572,035. Engine starters. JACK & HEINTZ, Inc. May 3, 1944, No. 8373. Convention date, Feb. 18, 1943. [Class 7 (v)] An energizer 1 for aircraft inertia starters, started under a reduced torque which is later increased to its full value, consists of a motor having a field structure 2 and an armature 3, a handle 4 having a grip member 5 pivoted at 6 and biassed to the open position shown by means of a spring 7, and a link 8 connecting with the grip member operating a switch 10 for controlling the motor. The two different values of the torque are produced by using two different sets of field windings. A stop is incorporated in the switch so that it is impossible to start on the full torque.
