Abstract
511,959. Turning-gear. BOSCH GES. R., (formerly BOSCH AKT.-GES., R.). Feb. 28, 1938, No. 6175. Convention date, Feb. 27, 1937. [Class 7 (v)] In an inertia starter comprising a flywheel 11 driven by an electric motor 10 and driving through a clutch member 12 engaged with the engine shaft by means of an electromagnet 16, a switch 28 for the motor and the electromagnet may be engaged with a contact 26 connected to a winding 22 whereby the motor is reversed to facilitate disengagement of the clutch 12. As shown, the flywheel 11 is connected to the clutch 12 through a friction clutch 14 and gearing 13, and the displacement of the clutch 12 is effected from the electromagnet 16 by means of a lever 17 and rod 15. A switch member 18 on the rod 15 closes a circuit between the winding 22 and the switch contact 26 when the clutch 12 is in engagement. Contacts 25, 27 of the switch 28 are connected respectively to the solenoid 29 of a switch 23 for the motor field 21, and to the winding 30 of the electromagnet 16. A spring 32 holds the switch arm 28 on the contact 26 when the switch handle 33 is released.
