Abstract

569,832. Vices. BATES, G. F., and MINING ENGINEERING CO., Ltd. Oct. 6, 1943, No. 16402. [Class 61 (ii)] The movable jaw of a vice is operated by a fluid-pressure cylinder 6 and double-ended piston 18, the middle of which is recessed to engage the end 12a of one arm 12 of a bell-crank lever the other arm 14 of which engages a nut 16 of an adjustment screw 15 for the movable jaw slide 10. Pressure fluid is admitted to the cylinder and exhausted therefrom by a rotatable valve comprising passages 21, 22 in a tapered plug 24 rotatable by a hand wheel 27.
