567,039. Conveyers. SUTCLIFFE, Ltd., R., and SHEPPARD, J. Oct. 29, 1942, No. 15167. [Class 78 (i)] A conveyer comprises a number of selfcontained over-lapping sections or units, one section alone being provided with a power unit and driving the other sections. Each conveyer section 1 comprises a trough 3 having a belt or scraper chain 6 passing over head and tail pulleys or sprockets at 4, 5, one end of the section fitting into the end 2 of the adjoining section and being clipped or clamped thereto. One section carries a power unit 11 which drives a longitudinal shaft 7, driving through bevel or worm gearing the shaft 9 of the head or tail pulley or an intermediate pulley. All the shafts 7 on the conveyer sections are provided with flexible couplings 8 and are connected together by suitable gearing or couplings. A shear pin or slipping clutch may be inserted in the drive of each shaft section 7 to interrupt the drive if the conveyer chain or belt becomes jammed.
