Abstract

1,060,219. Conveying cigarettes. SCHWEIZERISCHE INDUSTRIE - GESELLSCHAFT. Aug. 4, 1965 [Aug. 11, 1964], No. 33271/65. Heading B8A. Cigarettes 1 are conveyed by pushers 3 and supported by pushers 3b, the pushers being driven by and displaceable along endless chains 7, slack of the chains being taken up at 12. The pushers are equally disposed around the chains so that the length of the chain is an integral multiple of the distance between individual pushers. When the distance between pushers is changed the length of the chain must be altered. Alteration of length of chain (Figs. 1 and 4, not shown).-The excess of chain 7 is traversed round sprockets 10, 12 and 11. Sprockets 10 and 11 are driven in unison being connected by constantly meshing gears 16, 18 and 17. Addionally, gear 16 is carried by shaft 10a and sprocket 10 is carried by hollow shaft 10b, the two shafts being adjustably connected by dogs 21, 22. Thus adjustment between sprockets 11 and 10 is made by relative adjustment of dogs 21, 22, the dogs being separated and adjusted by use of nut 25, and the increase or decrease of chain is accommodated by sprocket 12. Additionally, screw 27 permits the total length of the chain to be varied. Thus, when the distance between consecutive pushers 3 is changed, the alteration in length of chain is effected by adjustment of dogs 21, 22, and by adjustment of screw 27.
