Abstract

566,526. Cigar &c. lighters. WESTON, A. S. Nov. 4, 1943, No. 18282. [Class 75 (iii)] A cigar &c. lighter comprises separable upper and lower portions 12, 11, preferably of plastic materials, the upper portion containing a removable flame-producing device 22 and the lower portion consisting of a hollow open-ended cylindrical casing having a partition 16 below which a reserve fuel container 25 is secured by its threaded end 28. The flameproducing device 22 may consist of a housing containing fuel-saturated cotton and fitted with a wick 24 and a friction wheel 23 rubbing against a flint. The upper portion 12 is formed with a cylindrical extension 20 provided with projections 38 which are a push fit in recesses 39 formed in reinforcing projections 40 on the lower portion 11. The top of the upper portion is formed as a reserve flint container fitted with a stopper 36 and a closure ball 34. The reserve fuel container 25 is fitted with a screw cap 27 and is formed at the bottom with a slot 41 to facilitate removal by a coin &c.
