[Class 87 (ii)] A dough sheeting-machine comprises three or more rollers so grouped on parallel axes as to present a compression space between them, and an additional roller spaced from one of the group of three or more, the arrangement being such that the dough, leaving the compression space as a sheet adhering to a roller, is carried around the periphery of this roller to pass between this roller and the said additional roller. Figs. 1 and 3 show an arrangement in which a compression space is formed between rollers 2, 3 and 4, and the issuing sheet passes between rollers 2 and 1. All the rollers are driven from shaft 5, rollers 2 and 4 being driven directly by chain- and-sprocket gearing 7, 8, 14 and 15, while rollers 1 and 3 are driven from roller 2 by intermeshing gears 10, 11, 18 and 19. The issuing sheet may be reduced in thickness by making the surface speed of roller 1 greater than that of roller 2 ; roller 1 may be driven independently of roller 2. Roller 2 has a fixed axis, but rollers 1 and 3 have their shafts mounted in eccentric bearings and the shaft of roller 4 is mounted in adjustable slide blocks, whereby the various clearances may be adjusted. By putting rollers 3 and 4 out of action, rollers 1 and 2 may be used to gauge preformed sheets ; roller 4 is put out of action by disconnecting clutch 16 from sleeve 17 and moving it away from roller 2 by means of worm gear 32, and roller 3 is put out of action by rotating its eccentric bearings 64. In modifications : (1) Figs. 4 and 5 (not shown), the additional roller may be swung down from a'side position to a position vertically below the last roller of three, and the gauging rollers thus positioned are supplemented by a second pair of gauging rollers ; (2) Fig. 6 (not shown), the compression space is formed by four rollers. When all the rollers travel at the same peripheral speed, the additional roller serves only to give a surface to the dough.
