Abstract

565,373. Brakes. PEART, J. July 13, 1943, No. 2878. [Class 103 (i)] A brake for perambulators and other handpropelled vehicles of the kind in which a plunger urged by a spring to engage the spokes of a wheel is disengaged by a hand lever mounted on the handle of the vehicle so that it may be gripped with the handle comprises a plunger 2 slidable for engagement with the spokes of the wheel 3, in a housing 1 secured by clips 22 to the axle 21 or other suitable part. The plunger is urged outwardly by a spring disposed within the housing and can be withdrawn by a Bowden wire 7, the sheath 8 of which abuts at one end upon the tubular member 6 screwed into the housing 1 and at the other end on a lug 20 on a split collar 16 which is clamped by bolt 18 to the handle bar 17. The hand lever 12 is pivoted at 13 on an end part 15 of the collar and its cranked arm 11 is provided with a lug 19 for the wire 7.
