Abstract
578,131. Cycle handle - bar grips. ALBRECHT, C. H. March 29, 1944, No. 5780. Convention date, June 18, 1943. [Class 136 (iii)] A handle-bar grip is pivotally and resiliently mounted against the end of the handle-bar 1 and comprises a grip portion 5 of leather, cork, &c. mounted on a tubular element 4 placed end on against the end of the handle-bar, in which' a rod 3 is pivotally mounted to extend into the tubular portion 4 of the grip 5 where the latter is resiliently held against axial movement along the rod 3. A lug 6 is located at the junction between the handle bar 1 and tube 4 and has a radiused portion 11 which acts as a fulcrum for pivotal movement of the grip 5. This movement is resisted by a spring 15 held in position by a nut 12, washers 13 and a distance piece 14. The flange 9 of the lug 6 prevents the rider's fingers from being pinched between the tube 4 and handle-bar 1. The grip may be secured to the steering column if employed on a car or truck.
