Abstract

560,417. Valves. BINNIE, H. Nov. 30, 1942, No. 16984. [Class 135] A water tap of the kind provided with an auxiliary cut-out cock has the tapered plug 27 of the cock held in its seating by a fibre washer 30 pressed against a shoulder on the plug and the bottom of a recess surrounding the plug by a screwed ring 31 engaging a threaded part of the recess. The ring has a squared part 32 to receive a spanner. The Figure shows the invention applied to a pillar tap attached to a basin by a flange 5 and nut 9 engaging threads 8 on a tail 3 which is provided with threads 7 for attachment to a water pipe. When applied to a bib tap the recess housing the plug is either formed immediately below the valve seat or between the main valve and the inlet connection.
