Abstract

815,376. Valves &c. TOLMAN, F. G. Jan. 15, 1957 [Jan. 26, 1956], No. 2558/.56. Class 135. A combined safety valve and cock comprises a hollow body 1 with a threaded inlet 2 for attachment to a domestic boiler &c. and an outlet 16, a spring-loaded valve member 9 which seats on a rib around the inlet 2 and may be opened against spring force by excessive inlet pressure, and an adjustable backing member 5 for the spring and through which passes the valve spindle, on the end of which are screwed retaining nuts 14, 15. In addition, to use the valve as a cock, the valve member, spring and backing member may be moved away from the seating as a unit without varying the spring setting by unscrewing the backing member, the external end of which bears on the retaining nuts.
