Abstract
613,474. Fire hydrant valves. MUNDELL, F. May 24, 1946, No. 15766. [Class 135] A screw-down hydrant valve comprises a sleeve nut f engaging an externally-threaded and non-rotary valve spindle g which is provided with a co-axial bore to take the stem h projecting from the valve closure member i, the arrangement being such that rotation of the sleeve nut positions the spindle relative to the member i to limit the opening movement of the latter when it is lifted by the hydraulic pressure in the main. Member i is provided with a seating washer k secured in position by a collar and lock-nut j<1>, and it has a slight rolling connection h<1> with the stem h. Rotation of spindle g is prevented by arms g<1> thereon which engage ribs (not shown) in the wall of the valve casing. Nut f is provided with a squared portion f<1> by which it can be rotated. The outlet from the valve is provided with a hose connection d.
