Abstract

548,466. Magnetic switches. CONTACTOR SWETCHGEAR, Ltd., and BRADBURY, C. A. May 28, 1941, No. 6818. [Class 38 (v)] A float-operated switch is operated with a quick action through a wall or partition by means of a. magnet on one side of the wall attracting an armature on the other. In the form shown, the switch 3 is mounted on the wall 1 of a tank containing a float connected by a rod 17 to a lever 18 pivoted at 19. As the float falls the lever 18 carries round with it a lever 15 carrying a magnet 16 which is thus brought against iron studs 14 and serves to attract an armature 12 on a contact arm 9 against the bias of a spring 13. When the float rises the lever 18 moves before the lever 15 a spring 27 between them being strained and affording a quick movement to the magnet 16. In modifications, a toggle linkage is connected to the lever 15.
