Abstract

793,811. Electromagnetic switches. ROTAX, Ltd. July 23, 1956 [Aug. 4, 1955], No. 22468/55. Class 38 (5). A solenoid plunger e normally holds a disclike bridging contact d against fixed contacts a through a spring f and is itself held by a spring i acting on a stem h abutting the plunger end, energization of the coil c causing movement of the plunger towards an iron plug g and opening of the contacts. To prevent this movement taking place due to accelerating forces applied to the switch, the stem h is provided with different diameter portions o, o<SP>1</SP> connected by a bevelled shoulder o<SP>2</SP> and a housing p in which the stem slides has openings q accommodating spring-pressed balls r. These balls bear against the shoulder o<SP>2</SP> when the switch is closed and their resistance is overcome by the coil c when the switch is opened. A spring blade s biases the balls through levers t and pins u. A further, normally-open bridging contact m may be provided biased by a spring n and co-operating with fixed contacts k.
