Abstract
536,115. Carding-engines. GARNETT, Ltd., P. & C., and LEATHER, C. I. Jan. 9, 1940, No. 443. [Class 120 (i)] A Garnett or like carding machine in which the teeth of the various rollers are formed by stamping portions out of a metal strip having a thickened base, has a fancy roller disposed so that it completely clears the swift or main cylinder of material and lays it directly on the doffer which occupies a non-doffing position relatively to the swift, has its teeth pointing in the reverse of the usual direction, and is rotated oppositely to the usual direction ; in a machine having a number of swifts the angle stripper, which is usually disposed between the doffer and a succeeding swift, is dispensed with. As shown, the fancy roller G clears the material from the swift D and is doffed by the doffing roller H which has its teeth arranged as shown and is rotated in the direction indicated by the arrow ; the doffer may deliver the material to a second swift D<SP>1</SP> or be stripped in the usual manner.
