Abstract
993, 503. Card clothing. G. & H. ROBERTS Ltd. Feb. 18, 1964 [Feb. 20, 1963], No. 6807/63. Heading D1N. The fancy roller 10 of a textile carding machine is provided with wire teeth 12 which are bent and so disposed that the bent portions 20 point rearwardly in relation to the direction of rotation and the effective, i.e. tip, portions 14 operate in back-to-back relation with the swift teeth 21. Thus both the lower portions 16 and the tip portions 14 are inclined in the same direction in relation to the foundation 18 of the fancy roller 10 but at different angles thereto, e.g. at 40 and 70 degrees respectively. The root portion 24 embedded in the foundation 18 may be a straight extension of the lower portion 16, as shown, or the wire may be bent to place the root portion at right angles to the surface of the roller (Fig. 2 not shown). In the event of point-to-point engagement of the teeth 12 with the swift teeth 21 the former are readily deflected as shown dotted at 28.
