Abstract
532,341. Gasifying powdered fuel. DEMAG AKT.-GES. July 29, 1939, No. 22109. Convention date, Aug. 17, 1938. [Class 55 (i)] In gasifying powdered fuel in suspension in a mixture of oxygen or oxygenated air and steam while combustible gases are supplied to the gasifying shaft, these combustible gases are either derived from gases produced in the process and previously stored, or are of other origin such as coke oven gas, or residual gas from a synthesis process. The device through which the combustible gas and oxygen are supplied are connected up so that when the supply of combustible gas is interrupted the supply of oxygen is automatically stopped. The combustible gases to be fed to the gasifying shaft are saturated with steam obtained from water used to cool the gas produced.
