Abstract

530,888. Spinning. COURTAULDS, Ltd., and STOKES, W. H. June 23, 1939, No. 18373. [Class 120 (ii)] [Also in Group IV] In the production of artificial threads by the wet spinning process, there is used for conveying the threads from the coagulating bath to the collecting device, a godet or roller which is provided with corrugations on its cylindrical or conical surface which meet the circumferential edges of the godet at an angle between about 15 and 75 degrees. With such a godet there is less tendency for the thread to slip on the godet than when the corrugations are at right-angles to the edges. As shown, corrugations 1 are provided on the surface of the godet 2. These meet the circumferential edges of the godet at an angle of about 50 degrees.
