605,340. Flexible tubes. KOPEX-MASCHINEN AKT.-GES. Oct. 9, 1945, No. 26288. Convention date, Oct. 10, 1944. [Class 99 (ii)] In a machine for making flexible tubes by helically winding strip material and producing corrugations in the formed tube by internal and external screw-threaded rotating grooving- members I, 2, the tube is compressed axially after the initial grooving operation by additional grooving members 5, 6 having screw-threads of smaller pitch than the members 1, 2. Either the internal or external additional grooving member may be omitted. A series of additional members with threads of successively decreasing pitch may be provided. The initial and additional grooving members may be rotated at different speeds. Alternatively, the initial and additional members may be integral, the threads of different pitch being separated by unthreaded portions.
