Abstract

692,943. Bobbins. COURTAULDS, Ltd. Aug. 23, 1951 [Sept. 28, 1950], No. 23743/50. Class 120(iii) A bobbin for low denier cellulose acetate threads having a yarncarrying surface between seven and ten inches long is formed of a metal shell 1 which is splayed as at 4 in the vicinity of its lower end and has an integral lower flange 6, the minimum diameter of the shell being from one and three - quarters to three and a half inches and the ratio of the length of the splayed portion to the total length of the yarn carrying surface being 0.2 to 0.4: 1. The shell may also be splayed as at 2 and/or provided with a smooth collar 7 of phenolformaldehyde resin forming an upper flange and a rubbing surface for thread drawn off the bobbin, and may comprise a lower cylindrical portion 5 in addition to a central cylindrical portion 3. The flange 6 may be strengthened by a metal ring insert. Specifications 626,177 and 692,944 are referred to.
