[Class 36] A conductor for high-frequency or hightension operation comprises a metal tube filled with magnesia or other pulverulent mineral material, the conductor preferably being formed by drawing or rolling down a workpiece consisting of a metal tube containing the pulverulent material, the latter preferably being in the form of compressed blocks. In the manufacture of a cable, the workpiece may comprise one or more tubular conducting cores, each containing pulverulent mineral material, and an outer tubular metal sheath separated from the conducting core or cores by compressed blocks of pulverulent insulating material such as magnesia.
