Abstract
521,667. Clamps; arc lamps; electric couplings. STAHN, A. Nov. 24, 1938, No. 34221. [Class 44] [Also in Groups XXXVI and XL] A clamp or holder particularly for electrodes of therapeutic irradiation arc lamps, but applicable to the reception of contact plugs and other objects comprises an arm a of channel section with central slot to receive attachment screws for securing to a support, the arm having lugs b between which another arm i is pivoted. The arms are acted on at one end by a compression spring k, and at the other end arm a carries a jaw g with longitudinally disposed semi-cylindrical seat ending in an abutment n which limits the insertion of the electrode h, whilst arm i carries a jaw f pivoted on a transverse pivot e so that the jaw adjusts itself to press evenly on the electrode. Jaw f also has a longitudinal semi-cylindrical seat. An abutment m prevents complete closure of the jaws so that jaw f can tilt to facilitate insertion of the electrode. Spring k is disposed at such distance from the arc that its temperature is not raised to more than 200‹C.
