Abstract

685,476. Arc welding electrode holders. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and PICKERING, I. J. April 26, 1951 [April 26, 1950], No. 10300/50. Class 39(iii) A welding electrode holder for use with two-phase current systems and double welding electrodes of differing sizes comprises an arm 10 at one end of which a block 20 having parallel, V - shaped grooves 22, 23 is secured. An arm 11 has one end 25 bent so as to form a fulcrum for a stirrup 27 carrying a roller 28 which may be eccentric. A compression spring 24 is secured between an operating handle 32 and the stirrup, and roller 28, which has two or more circumferential grooves 29, 30, is thus urged towards the block 20. A sleeve 35 on arm 11 locks the stirrup fulcrum pin 26 in position. Current supply is via cables 16, 17, which are led into a housing 14 and secured by ferrules 15 to arm 10, 11. In Fig. 2, a double electrode is shown gripped between the roller and the block.
