Abstract
319,748. British Thomson-Houston Co., Ltd., (Assignees of Illingworth, G.). Sept. 27, 1928, [Convention date]. Caps; holders.-The filament of a lamp bulb for use in optical-projection apparatus is positioned accurately with respect both to the usual terminal base and to a cap fixed upon the other end of the bulb. In making a bulb, a ring 15 to which the lamp pins 20 are attached is clamped in an aperture in an arm 18, Fig. 1, of an assembling-device, and a cap 16 for the other end of the bulb is mounted by means of its projection 35 in a gauge 33, and the bulb is placed in a pair of clamps 23, 24 with its base 11 in the ring 15. The bulb is then adjusted axially by sliding it in the clamps, and laterally by moving the clamps, to position the filament 12 with respect both to the projection 35 and the pins 20, as determined by two optical finders 41. The ring 15 is then soldered to the base 11 and the cap 16 is cemented to the bulb. In the optical-projection apparatus the projection 35 is inserted into a socket 47, into which it is pressed by a spring in the base socket 45. The pins 20 are positioned by notches in the socket 45.
