Abstract

515,854. Thermionic valves. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd., BLACK, D. H., and BACK, R. R. June 14, 1938, No. 17675. Addition to 494,100. [Class 39 (i)] . A thermionic valve comprises an indirectlyheated cathode aligned with an aperture in a mica or like thin-sheet insulating bridge B without rubbing by means of a resilient tongue formed by suitably cutting the bridge at or near the free end of which the cathode is fixed. The tongue may be a simple U-shape, or may have inclined extensions E, or further cuts S may make oppositely directed tongues. The cathode has a flattened end which fits into a corresponding aperture in the tongue. The grid may be supported on the same or on a separate mica spacer. To reduce microphony the valve may be mounted in a second envelope filled with glass wool.
