Abstract

501,720. Chains. HORNSBY, H. Sept. 13, 1938, No. 26671. [Class 24] [Also in Groups, XXXI and XXII] Endless tracks for vehicles, conveyers, or excavators are composed of links each side plate of which comprises two similar wedgeshaped plates A, B, arranged so that the converging parts thereof overlap each other at a, b, c these overlapping parts being welded or otherwise secured together. The plates may be formed from a parallel-sided blank by cutting the latter along a diagonal line. In the construction shown the plates are welded together along the edges ab, bc. A link is formed by securing two side plates together by means of a bush 6 secured in holes 4 in the plates A. A second link is pivoted to the first link by a pin 7 passing freely through the bush of the second link and secured in holes 5 of the first link.
