Abstract

194,926. Renold, Ltd., H., and Renold, C. G. March 7, 1922. Tentering.-A tenter chain having two sets of rollers working in planes at right-angles has its inner links 1 united by bushes made for example in the manner described in Specification 183,587, [Class 24, Chains &c.], and its outer links 2 united by solid studs or bushes. The rollers 20 for bearing the lateral stress in a chain as shown in Fig. 6 having horizontal pivotal axes or for bearing the vertical stress in a chain as shown in Figs. 7 and 8 where the pivotal axes are vertical, are each mounted on a stud on a plate 13 secured to lugs 11, 12 bent out from the metal of the links. The other rollers 6, 7 are mounted on studs connecting the links together or on studs passing through the bushes which secure the links together. The tentering-clips or pinned plates are secured to bent extensions of the plates 13. The chain may be guided by channels 21, 23, Fig. 6, the return track being reversed to accommodate the rollers in a lower channel in the track, or, in the case of a chain having horizontal pivotal axes it is guided in a track made in three parts 28, 29, 30, Fig. 8.
