Abstract
501,249. Discharging shaft furnaces. ROCHLING'SCHE EISEN - UND STAHLWERKE GES. June 20, 1938, No. 18286. Convention date, June 22, 1937. [Class 51 (ii)] In a shaft furnace, more particularly for the treatment of materials such as clayey ironstones which tend to slag and fuse into lumps, a number of discharge members 16, 17, 18 are arranged step fashion and with each is associated a ridge deflector or " saddle " 10, 11, 12. The discharge members consist of reciprocating tables which may have adjustable extensions 29, or endless bands or rollers may be used. Part of the weight of the charge may be taken by saddles 24, 25, 26 also serving as air distributers. In one form of the invention described, the steps of the discharge members lead downwards from the middle to the sides.
