Abstract
633.819. Furnaces. FUEL FURNACES. Ltd.. and PLAIT, G. W. July 6, 1946, No. 2098/49. Divided out of 633,770. [Class 51 (ii)] In a furnace of the type described in Specification 633,770 a plurality of auxiliary burners is provided along each side of the furnace, the auxiliary burners firing into a common combustion chamber which communicates with the interior of the treatment chamber along the length of the bed or hearth thereof. As shown in Fig. 1, auxiliary burners 18 are located vertically below alternate main burners 6, 7, the auxiliary burners on opposite sides of the furnace being staggered relatively to one another. Fuel and air are fed to the burners 18 from manifolds 21 and 17'respectively and the burners fire into a common longitudinal combustion chamber 19 from which the hot products pass through passages 20 to the interior of the treatment chamber.
