Abstract
475,509. Rotary kilns. JONGENSEN, M. VOGEL-. May 19, 1936, No. 14225. [Class 51 (ii)] In a slurry-burning kiln heat transfer elements are used which have a gradually decreasing grinding effect from the inlet, the elements being arranged in three zones, the first having freely movable chains 1, the second having elements such as short chains 2 with sufficient grinding ability to prevent clogging of the material, while the elements of the third zone are fixed or substantially so. The chains 1 and 2 may be attached to the kiln at one or both ends and in the latter case the chains 2 are more tightly stretched than the chains 1. The elements of the third zone may consist of radial partitions 3, either fixed, or connected to one another and'the kiln by rings so as to be slightly movable, or of tightly stretched chains forming a cross.
