Abstract

354,565. Rotary kilns. RONNE, E., 33, Vestergade, Copenhagen. Aug. 25, 1930, No.25373. [Class 51 (ii).] In a rotary kiln for burning cement or other slurry comprising two or more independently rotating drums through which the material is passed in succession, the drying is effected wholly or in part in one of the drums which is rotated at a higher speed than the others and is fitted with movable heat-transmitting devices such as chains, rings, or wire-netting. The drying drums may be enlarged to accommodate the heat-transmitting devices. The joint between two drums 1, 2 is enclosed by a casing 8 fixed to the lower drum 1, and sealed to the other by an annular plate 10. Conduits 9 are fitted for returning to the lower drum any material which should pass backwards into the casing, and such backward passage is minimized by helical blades 6 and a flange 7.
