Abstract
494,688. Valve amplifying circuits. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd. April 29, 1937, No. 12260. Convention date, April 29, 1936. [Class 40 (v)] For the reduction of interference noises in an audio-frequency amplifier the high frequency signal components are first accentuated, after which signals of above a predetermined amplitude are suppressed and finally the balance between high and low frequencies is restored. As shown the high frequency components of signals from an input stage 13 are accentuated by passing a capacity 14, the output from the next valve 15 consisting for each incoming impulse such as 11 of two oppositely directed impulses. If these impulses are above a predetermined amplitude one is absorbed by the shunt valve 30 normally biassed to cut-off and the other after phase reversal in the stage 19 is absorbed by the valve 37. The signal output is amplified by the valves 23, 27 between which is connected a network 24, 25, 26 which restores the balance of upper and lower frequencies. In another embodiment, Fig. 2 (not shown), a single limiting valve is used with a low anode voltage and suppresses noise impulses of opposite polarity by virtue of plate current cut-off and plate voltage saturation respectively.
