Abstract

172,394. Taggart, J. Scott-, and Radio Communication Co., Ltd. Sept. 3,1920. Thermionic amplifiers; atmospherics &c., eliminating.-A method of reverse interaction is utilized to damp out or minimize the effect of undesired signals in an aerial. As shown in Fig 1, all signals in the aerial are repeated in the plate circuit of an amplifier V. A circuit L4, L5 is tuned to the frequency of the undesired signal, which is re-introduced through the coupling L1, L5 into the aerial, in opposition to the original signal. The undesired signal is thereby damped out and is not transferred through the coupling L6 to the detector circuit. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 2, the circuit A is tuned to the undesired signal, and the circuit C to the desired signal. The output circuit B is adjustably coupled to the detector circuit D in such a way that any undesired signal-energy picked up by the circuit C will be opposed and damped out by the corresponding energy flowing in the circuit B.
