Abstract
297,004. Marconi's Wireless Telegraph Co., Ltd., (Assignees of Shapiro, L.). Sept. 10, 1927, [Convention date]. Thermionic amplifiers and heterodyne receivers. -In a supersonic heterodyne receiver having a common intermediate, radio and audio frequency amplifier the input and output impedances are connected in series or in series-parallel. The Figure shows an amplifier 3 for radio frequency from the loop 6 the output from which is applied through transformer 19 to a detector-oscillator 2. The output at intermediate frequency is applied to the amplifier 3 through transformer 14 and the amplified intermediate frequency energy is applied to a detector 4 through transformer 12. The audio-frequency output is applied to the amplier 3 through transformer 9 and the amplified audio-frequency is applied to an output amplifying valve 1 through transformer 23. In a modification, instead of the intermediate frequency couplings being arranged in parallel to the radio and audio-frequency couplings in seiries all the couplings are arranged in series each shunted by a. filter circuit having a high impedance at the frequency in question and a low impedance at other frequencies. Each filter comprises at least two meshes and accurate tuning of the rejector circuits is necessary.
