Abstract
494,636. Breast mills. SCHOFFEL, L. Jan. 13, 1938, No. 1203. Convention date, July 23, 1937. [Class 59] A grinding bar for single or multiple roller mills comprises a continuous and unperforated, smooth bar, for coarse grinding, which projects only slightly above the surface of the roll and is provided at its ends with sealing and pressure surfaces for sealing against the fine grinding bar. The coarse grinding bar a and fine grinding bar c may be mounted in a separate cross-bar frame or may be combined with the hopper h. The bar c is sealed against a longitudinal rib b on the hopper and from the bar a laterally at g to form a guide channel f for the return flow of the material pre-ground by the bar a. The material pre-ground by the bar a circulates in the hopper and is again ground by the bar until it is fine enough to pass under the bar c. The bar a may be provided with an upstanding rib which is sealed against the hopper and by which pressure screws may act centrally on the bar. Each bar may be subjected to pressure by a row of adjusting screws or both bars may be adjusted together. The bar a may be wider than the bar c and the rib b may be formed on the bar c.
