520,685. Roller-and-breast mills. FORSYTH, W. T., and SMITH, S. R. N. Sept. 28, 1938, No. 28183. [Class 59] A mill for grinding paints &c. is provided with a breast bar comprising two relatively displace-. able grinding blocks 2, 3, recessed at 4 between the adjacent surfaces to form a channel closed at the sides and opening into an housing 6. The lower block 3 is pressed against the roller 1 with a grinding pressure per unit area greater than that on the block 2. The material ground between block 2 and roller 1 passes into the recess 4 and is filtered either by filtering material housed in an enlargement in the recess 4 or by a filter formed by a perforated housing-cover 7 having the perforations covered by a pad 10 and a gauze 9, the filtered material being discharged through a shoot 12.
