Abstract
461,023. Roller - and - breast mills. SMITH, S. R. N., and COOPER, C. Oct. 15, 1935, No. 28410. [Class 59] A housing 2 carrying a grinding block or blocks 9 is attached to a hopper 1 and is provided with a cavity 11 into which the material passes on its way to the grinding block. The hopper and housing are pivoted on a bar 3 and the housing is adjustable toward the roll 5 by slot means 18.. The material in the hopper enters the cavity by a slot spaced from the roll 5 or by a gap 20 formed between the hopper and roll. The edges of these slots or gaps may be serrated &c. and a leaf &c. spring in the gap may force the material against the roll. The top of the cavity is provided with a pivotal and longitudinal moving block 13 which is adjusted to vary the volume of the cavity. The apparatus may be used in a multiple roll mill.
