490,883. Heating steam boilers by steam ; steam regenerative accumulators. RUTHS INTERNATIONAL ACCUMULATORS, Ltd. Nov. 15, 1937, No. 31380. Convention date, Nov. 16, 1936. [Class 123 (ii)] High-pressure steam is generated by circulating water through a heat-exchanger 2 heated by relatively low-pressure steam superheated by electricity. Steam is drawn from a low-pressure steam distributer 4, Fig. 1, by a compressor or pump 3 and is circulated through an electrically heated superheater 1 and the heat-exchanger. Water in a boiler or storage chamber 5 may be circulated through the heat-exchanger by a pump 6. The superheated steam circulated through the heatexchanger 2, Fig. 2, is led into the water in a regenerator 9 from which is drawn and forced through the superheater 1 by a pump 3. A steam coil 10 cools the superheated steam between the heat-exchanger and the regenerator. The superheated steam may pass through a heating coil in the regenerator and returned to the steam circuit, and steam may be admitted to the heating circuit from the boiler or storage chamber. In place of an electric heater 1, the steam may be heated by an electrically driven circulation pump 6 of such a low efficiency that most of the electric energy is transformed directly into heat.
