Abstract

474,480. Carding-engines. SWALLOW, H. July 22, 1936, No. 20245. [Class 120 (i)] The tension on the tape of a tape-condenser for a carding-engine is equalized and regulated by leading the tape a over a guide roller b at the running-out side of the machine, and then down and beneath a weighted pulley c suitably guided for vertical movement, the tape being led therefrom up and over a guide roller d from which it passes across the machine and over the usual leading-in roller at the running-in side. The pulley c is journalled on a pin e carried by a blocks, which is slidable on a vertical guide-rod g, and is loaded by an adjustable spring or by weights i depending from a stirrup k.
