Abstract
371,776. Sliver conductors or guides. FRASER, G., FRASER, N., and FRASER, J., Westburn Foundry, Arbroath, Angus. Nov. 27, 1931, No. 32898. [Class 120 (i).] In a carding engine of the type having a drawing, a pressing, and a plaiding roller, i.e. a slow moving cleaning roller, mounted above the sliver conductor, the conductor is freely supported at its lower end, and caused to vibrate by tappets on the plaiding roller engaging arms projecting from the conductor, whereby accumulation of fluff between the upper edge of the conductor and the drawing roller is prevented. The mouthpiece of the sliver conductor is preferably formed as a separate rigidly mounted unit. The sliver conductor 1 is freely mounted at 6 on the mouthpiece 10, and carries arms 8 which are engaged by tappets 7 on the rotating plaiding roller 4, whereby the conductor is caused to vibrate.
