Abstract
465,879. Rebeaming-machines for warp varns. ASHWORTH, P. Nov. 15, 1935, No. 31627. [Class 142 (iv)] The beams 2, from which yarns are unwound for rebeaming on to a beam 24, are connected by tapered coupling cups to shafts 1 journalled in a creel and provided with laterally aligned metal brake drums. Each drum is acted upon by a brake band connected to the creel and to a threaded spindle 8 connected bv an adjusting nut 9 to a threaded spindle connected by a chain 11 to a barrel 12 on a shaft 13. The nuts 9 are used to adjust the brake drums individually, and afterwards the shaft 13 is turned by a hand wheel and worm gearing to vary the tension as rebeaming progresses. The beams can be removed &c. without disturbing the brake settings. The measuring roller 21 is carried by vertically slidable bearings 20, movable by vertical screws 17 operated by bevel gearing and a hand wheel, whereby when dealing with poor yarns, the measuring roller can be moved down clear of the yarn passing from the creel to the beam 24, the reed 26 being detached and held by the operator, who can thus readily detect any entanglements &c. Presser and marking motions and expanding combs &c. may be used. Brake bands of friction producing material, or of metal lined with such material may be used.
