Abstract
457,926. Finishing edges of sheet material. BRITISH UNITED SHOE MACHINERY CO., Ltd., RICKS, F., and PRATT, J. W., Belgrave Road, Leicester. June 8, 1935, No. 16682. Addition to 421,981, [Group XV]. [Class 42 (i)] In a machine for treating the edges of leather &c. by shrinking, the continuous feeding action of the machine is varied by affecting the rotary movement of only one of the rotary feeding members. As shown, the lower feed wheel 18 is always driven, but the upper feed wheel 20 is driven through a clutch 31, 32, or 125, 132 controlled by a lever 42 or 148, which may be connected with the movable flame for heating the shrinking tool 28 when a flame is used for this purpose. The clutch 31, 32 is a toothed disc clutch. The clutch 125, 132 is a friction clutch, the two parts of which are connected with two collars 141, 142 normally separated by a spring 140 which engages the clutch without putting any end pressure on the same. The collars 140, 141 are closed by means of a pair of floating levers 143, 144 and a rod 146. Specifications 452,433 and 456,064 are referred to.
